Tips for Unscrambling Words

Look for common letter patterns like "-ing", "-tion", or "th-". Try rearranging consonants and vowels separately to spot familiar combinations. Words often start with common prefixes (un-, re-, pre-) and end with common suffixes. The best players achieve streaks of 20+ words!

A common word appears with its letters shuffled, and you have 12 seconds to rebuild it. Tap letters to place them, tap a placed letter to send it back, or hit Clear to start the word over. A wrong or late answer costs one of your three lives. Solve word after word to grow your streak.

Tips

Scan for common endings first. Spotting ING, ED, or LY instantly shrinks the puzzle.

Place the vowels early. Most words here carry one or two, and anchoring them reveals the rest.

When time runs out, whatever is on the board gets submitted, so always leave your best guess placed.

On a keyboard, Enter submits, Backspace removes the last letter, and Escape clears the board.

How people actually unscramble words

Skilled anagram solvers do not try letter orders one by one. They look for chunks. English words are built from a small set of common pieces, so a scrambled word almost always contains a recognisable beginning like UN, RE or PRE, or an ending like ING, ED, ER or LY. Spotting one of those removes most of the possibilities in a single glance, and the rest of the letters usually fall into place around it.

The 12 second limit here is tight on purpose. It is long enough to find a chunk and build around it, and short enough that trying random orders will not work. Three lives means a couple of misses are survivable, but a run of them is not.

Solving faster

Find the ending first. ING, ED, ER, LY and TION account for a large share of common words, and each one anchors three or four letters at once.

Place the vowels early. Most English words alternate vowels and consonants more than they cluster them, so a vowel placement narrows what can sit next to it.

Look for pairs that always travel together. Q is followed by U; TH, CH and SH are common; so are ST and CK.

Say the letters aloud in your head. Hearing a chunk is often quicker than seeing it.

Use Clear without hesitation. If a build stalls, three seconds of restarting beats nine seconds of staring at a wrong partial answer.
